Ponderosa Palisades Firewise
Newsletter
July 31, 2026Greetings Fellow Owners:
Lots of information to send along, so please give it a read!
- We received a substantial Truckee Fire Measure T Program Grant to get dead trees removed from the canyon area below Skyline Court and heading toward Hilltop.
- Re-register your contact info for fire/emergency alerts - no longer Code Red. It’s now Nevada County Alerts.
- Truckee Fire is doing curbside inspections on our whole neighborhood. Please schedule full Defensible Space inspections, not just curbside.
- We need your email addresses, not just mailing address. When we receive your email and defensible space hours, we’ll send you the Firewise Certificate for your insurance company to potentially lower your premium. Also, we may not continue mailed flyers. Please fill out this form or send your info to: pondpalfirewise@gmail.com
- Mark your calendars for our Community Event: September 17, 5-7PM. Wildfire Coalition of Nevada County and our Truckee Firewise Communities will have a booth at the Truckee Block Party to be held in downtown Truckee.
- Our Committee will be meeting to discuss the next 3-Year Action Plan. Considerable work has gone into establishing our Firewise Community, and protection success will happen only if we each do our part.
- Credits for work done. We must turn in hours worked, or money spent on defensible space clearing, so please let us know yours so we can add your efforts into our renewal application. Look for an email in September with the google form to log your hours/dollars.
- Informative videos – a bit of an eye-opener especially if you want to do full Home Hardening for additional insurance credit:
Thank you for reading, and please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to a fire-free year, and with your help, we hopefully will come through unscathed should an event happen.
Best wishes, Ponderosa Palisades Firewise Committee
